Engineering is a broad field that is divided into various disciplines and sub-disciplines. The disciplines of engineering can be divided into five main categories: chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering. There are also branches or sub-disciplines of these main disciplines that offer specialized knowledge and skills in a particular expertise, for example, refrigeration specialization.

As part of the Technical Services Engineering Infrastructure Discipline team, this individual will utilize their experience and knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology focusing on projects which support the scope and budgeting generation design construction and project management of large scale and small capital projects within the Technical Services Team supporting sustainability efforts at corporate and production facilities.

This position focuses on applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services focusing on sustainability.

This position will report directly to the Senior Director Engineering Technical Services with focus primarily on corporate and manufacturing sustainability.

Essential Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop strategies, provide direction, and maintain oversight of sustainability engineering efforts.
Accountable to ensure project initiatives and processes are in conformance with the organization’s established policies and objectives while meeting all code and regulatory requirements.
Establish and maintain sustainability specification standards and other technical information in collaboration with other corporate functional areas.
Oversee and manage the day-to-day operational aspects of multiple equipment and process focused projects.
Drive opportunities for improving sustainability at all levels of the enterprise.
Provide guidance and direction on complex plant and corporate operational questions and processes.
Lead sustainability development efforts while staying current with changes in the industry.
Interface daily and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the enterprise.
Monitor reporting and distribute reporting metrics to cross-functional teams regarding the status and progress of team projects.
Review project CIRs for validity scope design QA and network impact. Review project metrics for reasonableness and improve project control through process improvement and user training.
Guide and assist operations and engineering teams to adhere to Engineering design specifications concerning sustainability opportunities.
Create ad-hoc report analysis and presentations as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education: BS in Engineering, related field or equivalent engineering experience.

Experience: Minimum 7 years of applicable engineering experience with a minimum of 3 years in the food industry.

Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge and working use of computer programs.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to multiple internal department leaders, plant and warehouse leadership including executive level leadership.

Special Skills:  Must be versatile, flexible, and non-resistant to change. Must be quality focused. Must possess a good attitude to superiors, peers, and especially customers. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be team oriented. Must be able to establish project plans and timelines to meet customer deadlines.  Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at any one time.  Must have exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in team environments with focus on sustainability.  Must be proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with the ability to work in a high output environment

Supervisory:  This position will initially begin as an individual contributor role, with the intention to become a team manager.  As a team manager, the role will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. The incumbent provides training, planning, assigning, and directing work assignments and schedules, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Travel: 10 to 20 Trips per year
